Tervetuloa kesän tapahtumiin, joista lisää alla! Etelä-Suomen aluehallintovirasto avaa rajoituksia Helsingin sairaanhoitopiirin alueella ja enintään 50 hengen ulkoilmatapahtumia saa vihdoin järjestää 1-15.6. Tiedote 24.5. – Aluehallintovirasto (avi.fi).

Cometsin salia saa käyttää vapaaharjoitteluun nyt enintään 6 jäsentä isossa salissa ja 2 pikkusalissa. Jäsenmaksun maksaneet voivat hakea vapaaharjoitteluoikeudet myClubissa.

Aloitamme syyskauden 6. syyskuuta ja sen lukujärjestys julkaistaan elokuun alussa. Kursseille ilmoittautuminen alkaa 16.8. Kutsu uusia tanssijoita seuraesittelyyn ja tansseihin 25.8. Oopperan amfille sään niin salliessa tai jo aiempiin tapahtumiin.

1. Comets in the Park

Comets tanssii tänä kesänä kahtena iltana viikossa Oopperan amfilla.
Tiistaisin Comets in the Park – Lindy Tuesdays tapahtumassa tanssitaan kello 17-20 lindy hop, balboa, shag ja jazz roots -musiikkiin.
Keskiviikkoisin tanssitaan west coast
swingiä Comets in the Park – Westie Wednesdays tapahtumassa kello 18-21.

Tanssitapahtumat ovat avoimia kaikille. Voimassa olevien rajoitusten mukaan 1.-15.6. ulkotapahtumassa voi olla turvavälein enintään 50 henkilöä.
* Lavalla pyritään pitämään samaan aikaan tanssivien tanssijoiden määrä rajoitusten mukaisena. Amfin katsomon puolella tai ympäröivällä nurmella on hyvin tilaa oleskella turvavälein.
* Huomioithan, että tanssiminen on suositeltua tällä hetkellä vakioparien kesken, jolloin kontaktit muihin tanssijoihin pysyvät minimissä.
* Kunnioitathan niiden toivetta, jotka haluavat tanssia vain oman parin kanssa.

Joinakin erikseen ilmoitettuina alkuiltoina Cometsin valmentajat tarjoavat noin 30 minuuttia kestäviä ilmaisia pika-alkeita lajeissa lindy hop, west coast swing, balboa, boogie woogie ja fusku.

Yksittäisten päivien tapahtumatiedot päivittyvät pikkuhiljaa kesän edetessä. Myös koronarajoitusten löyhentyessä voimme toivon mukaan siirtyä vapaampaan sosiaalitanssiin ja avoimeen sekahakuun.

Voit maksaa vapaaehtoisen osallistumismaksun 10 € koko kesältä (samalla liityt Cometsin jäseneksi ja saat jäsenmaksulaskun 25 €, jos et ole jo jäsen)

2. Roller Coaster Rock 13.7. klo 16

Rokkitanssikisat 50-luvun tyyliin Linnanmäellä ohjelmalava Estradilla.
Vuoristoradan syntymäpäivän kunniaksi Comets ja Linnanmäki järjestävät nostalgiset tanssikilpailut – Roller Coaster Rock! Jive-taisto eli jiven SM-kilpailut tanssittiin Linnanmäellä vuonna 1954.

Linnanmäen tanssikilpailu on hurmaava ja hauska kisa, jossa tanssitaan kaikki yhdessä omaan tyyliin esimerkiksi rockabillya, fuskua ja boogie woogiea (tai niiden suloista yhdistelmää, musiikista ja tanssijoista riippuen)!

Väliajalla ja kisojen jälkeen on Cometsin tanssiryhmien esityksiä ja yleisötanssia. Yleisötanssin musiikista vastaa Sherwood Tigers -bändi!

Kilpailuun voi osallistua kuka tahansa eikä osallistuminen edellytä tanssiseuran jäsenyyttä. Tapahtuman sisäänpääsy ja kilpaileminen on ilmaista. Kilpailu on mix & match -kisa, eli parit arvotaan ja ilmoittautua voi ilman tanssiparia.

3. Ilmoittaudu seura-aktiiviksi

Tule mukaan mahdollistamaan Comets in the Park sekä Roller Coaster Rock. Vapaaehtoisia tarvitaan mm. roudareiksi ja dj:ksi.

4. Muutoksia vapaaharjoitteluun

Cometsin Pukinmäen salia saa nyt käyttää vapaaharjoitteluun 2 jäsentä pikkusalissa ja enintään 6 jäsentä isossa salissa. Muistathan tulla salille vain terveenä ja hygieniaohjeita noudattaen sekä saapua ja poistua omalla vuorollasi.

Huomaathan, että varauskalenteri ja Comets-salin ovikoodi on vaihdettu ja uusi koodi toimitetaan vain niille jäsenille, joille on myönnetty vapaaharjoitteluoikeudet. Jäsenmaksun maksaneet Cometsin jäsenet voivat lukea uudistetut ohjeet ja hakea vapaaharjoitteluoikeudet myClubissa.

5. Koululaisille ohjattua tanssiharrastustoimintaa

Cometsilla on oiva mahdollisuus näkyä koululaisten keskuudessa ja hakea yhteistyökumppaniksi kaudelle 2021-2022 Helsingin kaupungin EasySport-, FunAction ja NYT-liikuntatoimintaan eli matalan kynnyksen ohjattuun harrastustoimintaan.

6. Hallituksen terveiset -blogi

Voit varmaankin arvata, että tuorein Cometsin hallitus ei ole tavannut vielä kertaakaan yhdessä livenä. Poikkeusvuosi on saanut ikävöimään rakkaita lajeja, mutta myös mahdollistanut seurassa merkittävää kehitystyötä.

Lue ketkä ovat hallituksessa ensimmäistä vuottaan, kuka haaveilee ajasta, jolloin voi halata tanssiystäviä, kuka oli viime vuonna tekemässä lindy hopin sääntömuutosesitystä sekä kenen ensimmäiset muistikuvat seurasta liittyvät paikkaan nimeltä Jortsumestari.

MEMBERS’ LETTER 7/2021

Welcome to the summer events! Finally there are less restrictions and max 50 person events outside are allowed 1.-15.6. by the Regional State Administrative Agency

Comets club and practicing at the club is allowed up to 6 members in the big room and 2 members in the small room. Member with a membership fee paid can apply free practice permission at myClub.

We will start the fall period 6th September and the schedule will be published in the beginning of August. Signing up to the courses will start 16th August. Please invite new dancers to the presentation of the Comets and to dance on 25th August at the Opera amphi, or already to the events earlier.

1. Comets in the Park

Comets in the Park every Tuesday and Wednesday from June 8th to August 24th 2021 at the Opera amfi outdoor stage.

Comets dance club hosts the traditional swing dances with the event Comets in the Park – Lindy Tuesdays. Swinging music suitable for lindy hop, balboa, shag and jazz roots dancers will be played weekly during summer Tuesdays from 5 to 8 pm.

In addition, Comets in the Park – Westie Wednesdays offers rhythms suitable for west coast swing dancers on Wednesdays from 6 to 9 pm.

Comets in the Park events are free for everyone. According to the restrictions valid 1.-15.6. only max. 50 people can enter the dance floor at a time.

Some evenings will start with short tasters (= beginners’ courses of about 30 min) in the above-mentioned dances offered by Comets’ teachers. These tasters are free of charge. After each taster session newbies are most welcome to stay dancing with us! Smiling attitude is all you need

More detailed information will be updated and offered on the fb site of each dance event.
If the general situation allows, we hope to get back to “more normal” social dancing during the summer months.

There is a voluntary 10 € fee for the whole summer the cover some costs
(by signing up here you also become a Comets member and get a 25 € membership fee to be paid unless you are a member already).

2. Roller Coaster Rock 13.7.

Welcome to the Roller Coaster Rock dance competition in the 50’s style in Linnanmäki amusement park on Saturday 13 July at 4 pm.
The event is for the honour of the roller coaster and the Finnish Championship of Jive that was danced in Linnanmäki year 1954.

Couples will be mixed with a jack&jill raffle and you can dance anything in your own style (e.g. Boogie Woogie, Rockabilly or Fusku).
Anyone can join and you don’t have to be a member of the dance club.

The event is not only for the competition – also the audience will dance and the whole Linnamäki has a 50’s theme with cars etc. and the band Sherwood Tigers will play after the competition! Entrance, participation to the competition and dancing is free for all.

3. Join as Comets active

Help Comets in the Park and Roller Coaster Rock to be done and sign up as volunteer. Volunteers are needed especially as DJ and to carry equipment.

4. Changes to the free practice and the door code

Comets club and practicing at the club is allowed now up to 6 members in the big room and 2 members in the small room. Please enter and leave within your own reservation.

Please note, the calendar and the door code of the Comets Club are changed, the new code will be given only to those who have the rights for free practice and membership paid.

By applying for the rights at the myClub event, you agree to abide by Comets’ free practice rules.

5. Swing dance to school kids?

Comets has an excellent possibility to be seen among school kids and to apply as a partner with the City of Helsinki. Would you like to be in the project team? We are looking for a project coordinator and trainers to provide swing dance to kids for the season 2021-2022.

6. Greetings from the Comets Board

Can you believe that the current board of Comets has never met live yet? This exceptional year makes us to miss our dear dance but also has made it possible to develop the association to become even better.

Read in the blog who’s on the board for the first year, who’s dreaming of the time when you can hug dance friends, who was working on lindy hop competition rule changes and whose first memories about Comets are from ‘jortsumestari’.
