Lindy hop intermediate-advanced / level 3-4 (5 x 1.5h)

Intermediate-advanced workshops are for those who have danced for a while and who already feel confident with the things taught at intermediate level (level 3). You can vary your dance; among other things, you are able to change your dance to match the music and you can dance with partners of different skill levels. Festivals and dance parties are probably already familiar and enjoyable to you, and you want to deepen your skills to be able to create better and better moments on the dance floor for yourself and your partners.

Lindy hop advanced / level 4 (5 x 1.5h)

The level 4 is for the advanced dancers by video audition only. You have attended weekly classes, workshops and festivals during several years already, and practised things taught in courses regularly in your own time. You should be highly motivated, comfortable mixing different rhythms and basics, have a strong foundation, and should be experimenting with your own styling and expression.

Open level workshops

You can attend open-level classes when you have learned the basics of the dance and have danced 1+ years. Please note that these won’t be complete beginner workshops.

Dax Hock is an experienced swing dance instructor with a passion for the dance. He is a dedicated and knowledgeable teacher, providing fun and engaging classes that help students grow and develop their skills. His classes are filled with positive energy, and he is an excellent communicator and motivator. With his expertise and enthusiasm, you will be able to take your dancing to the next level.

Dax has taught at International Swing Dance Festivals around the world for over 20 years. The last time Dax was in Finland was 2010. Now it’s your lifetime opportunity to learn from this world champion!

All the classes and workshops are organised in Helsinki near good public transportation options.

Lindy hop classes are organised near Pasila.

Workshops are organised near Pasila or in Pukinmäki.

Lindy Hop Tracks – 169 €

• 7.5 hours of classes (5 x 1.5h)
• Levels: intermediate-advanced or advanced

Workshops – 49-69 €

• Solo jazz, balboa and lindy hop
• 2 x 1h – 49€
• 2 x 1.5h – 69€

NB! Comets membership (25€) is required for all the classes and workshops.

Lindy hop Advanced Track

• You can sign up only with a partner.
• One video per couple.
• You must send in a video to have your application processed.
• If you don’t pass the audition you have an option to get a spot in the intermediate-advanced level.
• Audition video requirements
  • include at least 4 swing outs
  • be improvised social dancing (instead of a routine)
  • record you dancing to 180 bpm+ swing music for 60-90 seconds
  • upload the video to google drive, dropbox, or youtube etc.

You have until the 24th of May 23:00 (UTC+3) to send your video and application. There is no waiting list. All videos sent on time will be reviewed on equal basis. 

Dax Hock will make the final decision of the audition selections and we will notify the student(s) by May 31st!

Lindy hop Intermediate-advanced Track

Register for intermediate-advanced lindy hop classes with this form by 23:00 (UTC+3) May 24th 2023!

You can sign up alone or with a partner, but you may end up in the queue, if you sign up alone.

After the advanced level audition selections have been done, we will notify all the select students to intermediate-advanced and advanced level by May 31st!
